What Ambassador Rice fails to reveal to Chris Wallace is the fact that the two dead Americans were ex Navy SEALS whose job duties did not involve protecting the ambassador or providing perimeter security of the compound. Nevertheless they bravely and selflessly stepped into action, when Chris Stevens became separated from the small security detail assigned to protect him, and took heavy fire while holding off the insurgents for several hours.

It is — I mean, I think the DNI spokesman was very declarative about this, that the report is false. The report suggested that there was intelligence that was available prior to this that led us to believe that this facility would be attacked, and that is false.

Note that in Obama’s quote, however, he is speaking generally. He does not call the Benghazi act itself an act of terror. In the following week, Obama repeatedly and specifically blames a YouTube video – “The Innocence of Muslins” – for inspiring the attack.
