
Broken Promises in Haiti

When a 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti on January 12, the world was heartsick at the stories of people suffering and dying in the streets of this island nation.
Pledging an initial outlay from the United States of $100 million, President Obama told the people of Haiti: "You will not be forsaken. You will not be forgotten."
Yet here we are, almost ten months later, and not a dime of the $1.15 billion the Obama administration ultimately promised for rebuilding has arrived.
As these pictures attest, the situation on the ground is hardly the sort of thing you'd want to file away under "We'll Get To It Eventually"... is it?
